NOVEMBER 2003

**Nov. Board of Education meeting is scheduled for Nov 19, 5 PM, Admin Office.

**The Board of Education at their September meeting approved May 29, 2004, 1 pm, as the graduation date for the class of 2004.

**Ken Litzau, Jean Whitefeather, and Ramona Gehlert attended a Reading First workshop in St. Paul from Nov 3-5. Reading First is sponsored by the State of Minnesota and enables the school district to apply for a grant up to $350,00. The grant will assist SFA in the elementary schools and will provide additional reading support.

**The Capital Bonding Bill in the amount of 33.3 Million for a new middle school and continued remodeling of the high school was passes by voters on Nov 4. The district is now set to approach the 2004 Legislative committee sessions for approval. A site for the new middle school has not been determined by the Board of Education at this time.

**Work continues on the middle school gym floor. In early September an air bubble formed on the south end of the court. Test revealed the presence of mold underneath the floor. Work has started to remove the mold and to replace the sections of the floor that needs to be removed. Contractors indicate that the floor will be ready for the basketball season.

**Parents are reminded that students will not be sent home if a bomb threat is reported to the building. The building will be evacuated and students transported to the Humanities Center until police/fire clear the building. Once the building cleared, students will be transported back to their respective buildings.
