Mona Desjarlait sets her three moneybags down to be opened by Red Lake Seven Clans Casino employees during the $5000 Moneybags Cash Giveaway promotion on Saturday, November 15th.  Desjarlait did not win the $5000 grand prize, but did pick 2 of 3 possible casino logos that would have given it to her.  Both her and Archie Barrett each ended up walking off the stage with $1500.  Two other contestants, Tom Stillday Jr. and Diane May each took home $650 and $400 respectively.

No one won the $5000 Grand Prize at 7 Clans Casino-Red Lake

But there were two $1500 winners

(RLNN) - From October 15 through November 15, all three 7 Clans Casino operations in Red Lake, Thief River Falls and Warroad have been promoting their $5000 Moneybags of Cash Giveaway.

There was an opportunity for each sasino to give away $5000 on Saturday, November 15, 2003 at 11 p.m.

To enter the drawings, a person just had to visit either one of the 7 Clans Casinos and register, or obtain additional entries with jackpots, winning at bingo, or hotel stays. Just by visiting each day, one could have had 30 entries in the drawing.

But it wasn’t just a drawing as some people thought. The rules were that 4 names would be drawn on the night of the drawing, of which those 4 individuals would have the opportunity to win ‘up to’ $5000. And no matter what, there would only be ‘one’ $5000 winner if a contestant picked the right ‘moneybags’.

There were actually 15 moneybags for a contestant to choose from, of which they had to pick three of them. If a contestant picked the three moneybags with the Seven Clans logos inside the three different bags, then they would have won the $5000 grand prize.

Other prizes in the moneybags ranged from $50.00 in cash, on up to $600.00, and the logos were also worth $500.00 each if a person didn’t select all three.

The four names drawn at the 7 Clans Casino in Red Lake were Tom Stillday Jr., Diane May, Archie Barrett, and Mona Desjarlait.

With an audience of about 400 in the Humanities Center at 11 p.m., the four contestants took the stage and drew additional numbers to determine the order of their draw.

Tom Stillday was first and upon opening his moneybags, he had won a $50.00 prize, another worth $200.00, and his third moneybag contained $350.00. Stillday won a total of $650.00.

Mona Desjarliet was second, for which her first moneybag was a casino logo, as well as her second, but her third bag contained a cash prize of $500 instead of the third logo. Had that third bag held the third logo, she would have won the $5000. Instead, with the two logos and the $500 cash prize, she still won $1500.

The third contestant was Diane May, of which her bags held all dollar amounts of $80.00, $70.00 and $250, for a total of $400.

Archie Barrett was the final contestant, and inside the three moneybags he selected was a casino logo worth $500.00, a cash prize of $400, and another cash prize of $600.00, for a total of $1500.

Neither participant won the $5000–Desjarlait almost did it with drawing 2 logos–but each won cash from $400 to $1500.00.

It was an interesting promotion, about $4000 was given away at each location, and what some didn’t like about it, was the fact it was held on the same night at all three locations. If a person visited all three casinos and had tickets in each drawing, they could only be at one place at one time.

Their next promotion currently advertises $11,000 to be given away at each location, but further details were unavailable at the time this article was published, and their Website was currently under construction.
