Ms. Wilson’s class essays

At Red Lake Elementary School, Ms. Wilson’s class wrote essays about their family’s Christmas traditions. Here are some of her students’ writings...

My Christmas Tradition

By Tamera Marie Lawrence

On Christmas we are going to have a party and eat some cookies.

We will have our family come and visit and open presents on

Christmas Eve. We will have a very nice Christmas and everybody

will be handing out to each other a present, opening and seeing

what’s inside. We will all watch and see what the present is. I

will be taking their pictures with their present in their hands.

Our Family Tradition

By Billie Jean Roy

Our family traditions are to all go over to my grandmother’s

house and eat, play, sing and pray. Santa comes over to give

the presents to all the kids. My grandma gives Santa the

presents. We all open our presents and all the kids sing,

“We Wish You A Merry Christmas” to my grandma. Pictures

will be taken of the kids, adults and the whole family. We send

those pictures to my uncle Jim who is in prison. At the end of

our Christmas party we pray again.

My Christmas Traditions

by Michael Kingbird

Every Christmas my family helps each other out by doing

each others’ chores. We always eat cookies and always have

a football game. We always have fun meeting each other,

greeting newcomers that come into the family. We always

go to Bemidji and have lunch, buy each other toys, candy,

games and other stuff the family will want. We always play

with the little kids and take care of the babies. We feed

each others’ dogs. We even draw each other some pictures.

On Christmas we don’t fight but most of all on Christmas

we have fun. We always give hugs and kisses before the

tradition is over.

My Christmas Tradition

By Amelia G. Norris

My Christmas tradition is to spend time with my family.

We have dinner at the table and maybe watch Christmas

movies together. Sometimes my mom and my grandma cook

my favorite foods like strawberry shortcake, chicken, mashed

potatoes and gravy, green beans and stuffing. We have a

really big dinner. Sometimes we have no room at the table

but we make room for everything. Sometimes we only make

enough for the people who come over to our house. We either

celebrate Christmas at our Aunties or we just stay at our

house and have dinner. I go play outside until my mom calls

me to come and open our presents.
