Preston's Store in Redby has been in business for over 20 years, serving the community with one thing in mind-- "giving people what they want and need."  It's a simple philosophy that has kept the store in business all these years.
"If he doesn't have it, he will order it for you.."
Of course anyone running a small business knows what it takes to make it a success.  It might look easy operating a store, until you take into account keeping the shelves well stocked, dealing with dozens of product distributors, keeping the equipment up to date and operating effeciently, dealing with hundreds of different personalities in people, accounting for every sale and purchase, and putting in some very long 16 hour days with seldom a day off.
Aside from gas and oil and other automottive products, Preston's also carries the largest selection of Native American music tapes and CDs on the Red Lake Indian Reservation, which include the local talents of Eyabay and the Kingbird Singers, as well as other drum groups like Black Lodge Singers,, Smokey Town, Northern Cree, Jackie Bird, Edmund Bull, and many others.  Of course he also carries some country/western tapes and CDs, as well as pop, rock and other genres.

Just recently added this year are a wide variety of greeting and Christmas cards, of which most of the time a person would have to travel at least 30 miles one way to pick one up in another town.  Most of the themes of the cards are Native American, so chances are even if you did travel somewhere else, similar cards might be hard to find.

Preston's Store is open every day of the year from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m.  The telephone number is 218-679-3752.

The music you are listening to is just one sample from the CD Rock-N Minnesota, by Smokey Town.  The CD was recorded live at Prairie Island and is available at Preston's Store.
