| LITTLE ROCK COMMUNITY INFORMATION

We try to have a community activity every month but without help from community members that is not always possible. Please consider volunteering ~ you can talk with any of the board members if you would like more information. Use of Community Center: The Little Rock Community Center can be reserved for family activities. Leave a message at 679-3594 to be added to the calendar (include your name & phone number). You must supply all paper products and plastic ware that you might need for your event. You are responsible for cleaning the community center following your activity and for any damages. Reminder: Wakes take priority over all scheduled events. If the center is needed for a wake during the time you requested, your activity will be canceled, no exceptions. This is out of respect for the family of the individual who has passed on. This is a common practice reservation wide; if your activity is canceled please do not be rude to the community coordinators this is not a decision they made. Helping in times of sorrow: We are looking for individuals who would be willing to volunteer some of their time to help families when their loved ones pass on. A group of community members would get together to clean the center before the wake begins, some will gather fire wood, start fire if needed or requested, make sure fire wood lasts. Following the wake and funeral, the group would come in to clean the center again and take out all trash. Contractors Needed: From time to time there is a need for repairs at the community center or elsewhere in the community. We would like to develop a list of individuals who live in the Little Rock district that are interested in occasional contract work. We need carpenters, plumbers, electricians, mechanics, etc. Once the list is developed we will contact people on a rotating basis so everyone has an opportunity to make a little extra money here & there. Interested people can leave a message at the center 679-3594 or contact Alice at 679-3553. The Little Rock Board of Directors would like to say Mii-Gwetch to the many Little Rock volunteers who have taken a little of their personal time to help us with the events that we have. Your help makes a big difference in our ability to hold events for everyone in our district. Without volunteers we would not be able to have as many. For anyone interested in volunteering please contact any of the board members we always need more help as well as fresh ideas. |
