Toni Elson Casey

 

Toni Elson Casey, 38, of Cass Lake, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Duluth.

 

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Cass Lake with the Rev. Anselm Thevarkunnel officiating. A wake will begin at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake and will continue until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Cass Lake. The Cease Family Funeral Home of Cass Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

 

Active pallbearers will be Jason Voeltz, Mark Voeltz, Rod Johnson, Vern Wakanabo, Ron “DoodWakanabo and George “Juno” Whipple Jr.

 

Honorary pallbearers will be Janice “Munchkin” Holstein, Bobbi Mountain, April Voeltz, October Voeltz, Tony Budreau and Dawn Fineday.

 

She was born Dec. 4, 1969, to Thomas and Hazel (Raisch) Casey in Winsted, Minn. She grew up in the Montrose, Minn., area of Wright County. She moved with her family to Cass Lake in 1980, where she attended the Cass Lake-Bena High School. She attended the Leech Lake Tribal College for secretarial skills and natural resources programming.

 

She was a stay-at-home mother. She enjoyed the outdoors, taking walks and going for rides. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

 

She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Bobbi) Casey II and Anthony Casey, of Cass Lake; daughter, Geraldine Casey of Cass Lake; parents of Cass Lake; one grandson; sisters, Jo Hilde of Duluth and Samantha Casey of Cass Lake; several nieces, nephews and cousins; two uncles; and two aunts.

 

She was preceded in death by her daughters, Heather, Georgianna and Nikki Jo Casey.
