Susan Oakgrove

    Susan Oakgrove, 55, of Red Lake, died on Wednesday, March 31, 2004, at the MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, N.D.

    A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Red Lake with the Rev. Pat Sullivan officiating. A wake will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday and continue until the time of the service on Tuesday. A private family burial following cremation will be at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji

    Pallbearers will be Craig Oakgrove, Bud Beaulieu, Mike Beaulieu, Dale Beaulieu, Ray Beaulieu, Bruce Jourdain, Mike Defoe and Shawn Martin.

    Honorary pallbearers will be Eve Beaulieu, Nancy Richards, Angie Beaulieu, Julie Stately, Ethel Auginash, Barbara Brun, Agnes Smith and Melvina Defoe.

    Susan was born on September 5, 1948, to Raymond and Mary Jane (Defoe) Beaulieu in Red Lake. She was raised and educated in Red Lake, graduating from the Red Lake High School. After high school she joined the U.S. Army in 1966 and served until 1969. She married Pete Oakgrove on December 27, 1969 in Minneapolis. They lived in Minneapolis for three years before returning to Red Lake. She started work for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1970, and worked there for 29 years. For the last five years she has worked as an administrative assistant for the DNR Forstry Department. She loved to read, watch high school sports, visit the Casino and joyride in the car. She loved her grandchildren very much.

    She is survived by her husband, Arnold “Pete” Oakgrove of Red Lake; sons, Arnold (Rosa) Oakgrove Jr. of Red Lake; Allen Oakgrove of Minneapolis, Jerry (Agusta) Oakgrove of Bemidji, and Shawn Martin of Red Lake; brothers Gerald “Bud” Beaulieu of Red Lake, Mike Beaulieu of Red Lake, Raymond Beaulieu of Red Lake and Dale Beaulieu of Red Lake; sisters, Erma Beaulieu of Burnsville, Minn., Kathy Pacheco of Minneapolis and five grandchildren.

    She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bill Roy.
