Robert “Tom” Lussier Sr.

 

Robert “Tom” Lussier Sr., 37, of Redby , MN died Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the Red Lake Hospital in Red Lake , MN .

 

Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, July 26, 2007 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Red Lake , MN .   A wake will begin on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 at the Little Rock Community Center and continue until the time of the service.  Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake , MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

 

He was born on May 5, 1970,  in Red Lake , MN the son of  Herman “Tutter” Downwind and Roberta “Bobbi Ann” Lussier.  He was raised and educated in Red Lake , graduating from Red Lake High School in 1988.  He was a gifted high school athlete, playing basketball, football, and baseball.  He worked as a clerk at the Red Lake Trading Post while he was a student.  He attended Northland College in Thief River Falls , MN .  After completing his schooling in Thief River Falls he stayed there and worked for the 7 Clans Casino in their Surveillance department.  He went on to work Surveillance in the 7 Clans Red Lake casino as well.  He joined Red Lake Law Enforcement, first as a police officer, and later as a conservation officer.  He most recently worked as a truck driver for the Red Lake Transfer Station.  He enjoyed singing and dancing, whether it was karaoke, or at a wedding or graduation.  He enjoyed watching and participating in sports, including golf, and jet-skiing.  He loved being with friends, and family, especially his children.

 

He is survived by:  Mother,  Roberta “Bobbi Ann” Lussier of Red Lake, Father,  Herman “Tutter” (Georgia) Downwind of Red Lake; Son,  Robert Thomas Lussier Jr. of Red Lake;  Daughter, Vernell Lussier of Kansas;  Sisters,  Rose Marweg of Fergus Falls, Kristy King of Redby, Stacy Downwind of Cloquet, Angela Carrier of Bemidji, Brothers,  Dave Downwind of Red Lake, Daryl (Doovie) Spears of Fargo , ND, Adrian Brown of Redby, Loving Friend, Muriel Stately of Redby;  Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by: his Grandparents Elmer Sr. and Margaret Rose Lussier, Frances Sr. and Dorothy Downwind, and an uncle Elmer Lussier Jr.

 

Active Casketbearers will be: Phillip Johns, Steve Garrigan, Richard Kingbird, Randy Garrigan, Charles Charnoski Jr., Greg Sumner, and Delwyn English Sr.

 

Honorary Casketbearers: Douglas Kingbird, Wayne Lussier Sr., Dave Downwind, Gilbert Lussier Sr., Arlen Lussier Sr., Wendell Cook, Charlie Reynolds, Ronald Sigana, Chad Reynolds, Quentin Johns, Donald Brun Jr., Jan Lussier and Adrian Brown.
