Richard Whitefeather

 

Richard Leroy Whitefeather, 49, of Seattle , formerly of Red Lake , died Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle , Washington .

 

Funeral Services will be 10:00 am, Friday, July 13, 2007 at the Redby Community Center in Redby, MN with Spiritual Leader Tommy J. Stillday officiating.   A wake will begin at 12 noon on Wenesday, July 11, 2007 at Redby Community Center and continue until the time of services on Friday.  Interment will be at the Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah , MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

 

He was born August 24, 1957 in San Francisco , California the son of Leroy N. Whitefeather and Mary Jones.  He moved with is family to Redby , MN in 1959.  He went to school in Red Lake He joined the US Army.  He returned to Redby and worked at the Redby Mill.  He moved to California in 1980, and then to Seattle in 1990.  He was a deep sea commercial fisherman for crab and lobster.  He worked on the Bering Sea off of Alaska .  He had carpentry skills and would refurbish cars.

 

He is survived by daughters:  Lisa (Ron) Brun of Red Lake, Miranda (Alan) Parkhurst of St. Paul , MN, Rochelle Strong of Red Lake;  Brother:  Martin Whitefeather of Redby; Sisters:  Jackie Whitefeather of Redby, Gloria Whitefeather-Spears of Redby, Georgianna Whitefeather of Minneapolis, Ramona Whitefeather of Redby, MN; and 12 grandchildren.

 

He was preceded in death by parents, son David Strong, brothers Jacques Whitefeather, Bernard Whitefeather, Ralph Jones, LeRoy A. Whitefeather Jr.

 

Honorary Casketbearers will be Darrell “Rags” Johnson, Douglas “Buggy” Dudley, Gary Dudley, Donovan English, Gary English, Gilbert Juarez and Martin Whitefeather.

 

Active Casketbearers will be Wesley Jones Sr., Mike Whitefeather, Lee Whitefeather, Ron Brun, Clarence Spears, Jr., Jeremy Strong, and Myron Jones.
