Richard Robinson Sr.

Richard Robinson, Sr.,76, of Cass Lake died Tuesday, August , 2006 at his home in Cass Lake.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, August 19, 2006, at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake, MN, with Rev. George Ross and Rev. Leonard Fineday officiating. A wake will begin the evening of Thursday, August 17, 2006 at the Veteran’s Memorial Building in Cass Lake, and continue until the time of the services. Interment will be at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Cass Lake, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Cass Lake.

He was born on April 3, 1930, in Inger, MN, the son of Albert and Mary (Morgan) Robinson Sr. He married Gladys Bobolink on August 18, 1952 in Minneapolis, MN. They moved back to Cass Lake shortly after, where they have lived since. He enlisted in the US Army, serving during the Korean War. His brother Sgt. Ernest Robinson was declared MIA in Korea during the war. Richard was instrumental in building the Veteran’s Memorial Pow-wow grounds in Cass Lake. Many hours of his own time was spent there. He enjoyed watching wildlife, hunting, fishing, ricing, and teaching his sons and grandsons the skills and special hunting places. He enjoyed watching sports on TV, and listening to country gospel music. He loved playing horseshoe with his buddies, and was good enough to win a few trophies. He loved talking Ojibwe and going to pow-wows.

He is survived by: wife, Gladys Robinson of Cass Lake, MN

Larry Robinson of Cass Lake,
Daughters, Sue Robinson of Cass Lake,
Kelly Robinson of Cass Lake,
Brothers, Albert Robinson of Cass Lake,
Robert (Linda) Robinson of Cass Lake,
Dennis (Cookie) Robinson of Cloquet, MN
Sister, Margaret Robinson of Cass Lake,
19 Grandchildren, and 11 Great-Grandchildren

He was preceded in death by: his parents, his brother Sgt. Ernest Robinson, daughter Bonnie Robinson-Morgan, and two grandsons Skye, and Zachery

Active Casketbearers will be his grandsons: Jordan Robinson, Anthony Robinson, William Ethier, Terry Lee Robinson Jr., David Morgan Jr., and Thomas Robinson

Honorary Casketbearers will be: Gilbert Starr, Earl Erion, Rayis Losh, Kenny Hough, Mert Lagoo, along with his grandchildren he helped raise; Jessica Robinson, Matthew LaDuke, Thomas Robinson, Terry LaDuke, and Nicholas Robinson.
