Melvin Weise Obituary

Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm, Friday, April 27, 2007 at the St. Mary’s Mission Catholic Church in Red Lake , MN with Father Pat Sullivan officiating. A wake will begin at 12 noon, Thursday, April 26, 2007 at the Red Lake Center in Red Lake , MN and continue until the time of the service. Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Mission Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake , MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

He was born on January 8, 1926, in White Earth, MN the son of Charles and Eva (Jones) Weise. He attended numerous boarding schools as a boy. He lived in the Twin Cities for many years before moving with his family to Red Lake , MN in the 1960s. He worked for the Red Lake School District until his retirement in 1988. He was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, and fishing. He was a good ricer. He enjoyed riding, going to the casino, and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by: wife, Priscilla Defoe of Red Lake , MN; Daughters, Melvina (Frank Spears) Defoe of Red Lake, Kathy Defoe of Red Lake; Sons, Sheldon Defoe of Red Lake, MN; Keith William (Jackie) Defoe of Red Lake , Pat (Lisa) Defoe of Red Lake; Mike Defoe of Red Lake; Special Granddaughter, Kelly Defoe of Red Lake , MN; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, sons Rodney Defoe, David Defoe, Daniel Defoe Sr., Richard Defoe Sr., daughters Sandra Holstein, Eliza Kingbird, brothers Richard Weise, Ambrose Weise, and sister Dorothy Hart.

Honorary Casketbearers will be: Kevin Hart Sr., Eugene “Jiggy” Strong, Mike Good, Pat Defoe Sr., Elmer Thompson, Kevin Hart Jr., Dan Hart, Charles Martin Sr., Donald Graves, Willie Morrison, Leslie Lussier, and Jason Hart Sr.
