Marilyn Jean May

       Marilyn Jean May, Miskoo Gii Zhii Gook(Red Sky Spirit Woman), 45 of Red Lake died Sunday, January 23, 2005 at the Red Lake Hospital after a 6 month illness.

       Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, January 27, 2005 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Red Lake with Rev. Pat Sullivan officiating. A wake will begin 10:00 am on Tuesday at the Red Lake Center in Red Lake and continue on until the service on Thursday. Interment will be at the Family Burial Grounds in Red Lake under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.

       Marilyn was born April 27, 1959 in Red Lake to Herbert Zemoand Melinda (Blue) May. She attended Red Lake High School. She also received training at Northwest Technical College. She worked at various jobs through out her life, the job she enjoyed the most was when she was caring for others in the dialysis units in Red Lake, Cass Lake and as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Red Lake Hospital. She enjoyed being with her family, going to Casinos and being with her grandchildren. She was a heavy duty fan of her sons sports activities and always followed them wherever they traveled as athletes.

She is survived by her mother: Melinda (Rupert) May/Downwind; three sons: Steven (Tammi) Johnson, Dominick Johnson, Robert Cook all of Red Lake: two daughters: Natashia Johnson, Chloe May Cook both of Red Lake; 3 grandchildren: Latayla, Kelsie and Andrew; sisters: Karen (Louis) May, Carol (Ben) May, Ruth May-Whitefeather, Laurie (Keenan) May, Roxanne May, Diana (Ron) May all of Red Lake; Brothers: Bill (Thelma) May, Herb (Terra) May both of Red Lake; Uncles: Myron Smith, Melvin May, Sr., Ron Anderson, Roy Anderson, Robert Anderson, Leslie Anderson and Jerry Needham; Aunts: Lucille Anderson, Shirley Anderson; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

       She was preceded in death by grandparents, father Herbert ZemoMay, sister Gloria and daughter Tashia.

       Honorary Casketbearers will be Roxanne Desjarlait, Rachel Donnell, Kathy Beehler, Loretta Kloster, Betty Schoenborn and all her sisters and all her nieces.

       Active Casketbearers will be Brad Blue, Arnie Martin, Robbie May, Corey May, Jonathan Mountain, Dwight Stately, Jr., Gordy Johnson, Rick Chaboyea, Jack Desjarlait, Kendall Kingbird and Challenge Johnson.
