Margaret Sumner

 

Margaret "Monie Ann" Sumner, "Mush Kaa Wii Gahbow Equay" (meaning Strong Standing Woman), age 64, of Red Lake, died on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji, MN, following a battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2007, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Lake with Father Pat Sullivan officiating. Visitation will begin 3:00 p.m., Thursday, July 19 at the Little Rock Community Center and continue until time of service on Saturday at the Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Red Lake.

Pallbearers will be Darrell Maxwell, Tony Hill, John Kingbird, Jr., Melvin May, Jr., James Beaulieu, Jr., Preston Sumner, Joey Jourdain, Keith Sumner and Nicholas Sumner.

Honorary pallbearers will be Marion Martin, Candace LaGou, Jan Kelly, Irma Beaulieu, Sherilyn Kelly, Betty Beaulieu, Donna Prentice, Kathy Dudley, Gladys Saragosa, Andrea Rosebear, Donna Graves and Pamela May.

Margaret Rose Hill was born on July 31, 1942 to Thomas and Katie(Martin) Hill in Red Lake, MN. She was educated at St. Mary's Mission School and Red Lake High School. She married Henry Sumner on March 24, 1960 in Clearbrook, MN. She worked in food service for 27 years at various locations. She enjoyed Country music, Karaoke, crossword puzzles, going to the casino, being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Thelma (Bill) May, Ramona (Robin) Roy, of Red Lake, MN; sons, Stuart (LeeAnn) Sumner of Fargo, ND, Henry (Melissa) Sumner, Jr., Leonard Sumner, Nicholas (Lorette) Sumner and Jordan Sumner of Red Lake, MN; sisters, Violet Roy of Bemidji and Gloria Neadeau of Red Lake; 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Karen; brothers, Thomas, Tilford and Leonard; sisters, Mary, Julia, Rosellen, Darlene and Alice.
