10, 2007 at Jourdain-Perpich
Care Center
in Red Lake , MN .
Funeral Services will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at
the St. Mary’s Mission Catholic Church in Red
Lake , MN with Father Pat Sullivan officiating.
A wake will begin 4:00pm, Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the Little Rock Community Center
in Red Lake , and continue until the time of the service. Cremation
arrangements are with the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
He was born on August 18, 1938, in Red Lake ,
MN the son of Solomon and Maggie
(Waybenais) DesJarlait. He was raised
and educated in Red Lake ,
then attended some of his high school years in Duluth , MN
. After finishing school he moved to Kansas
and worked as a laborer, before moving to Chicago , Illinois in the late 1950’s. In April
of 1965, the apple of his eye, daughter Peggy Ann, was born. He moved to Minnesota in 1980, and eventually back to Red Lake
in the early 90’s. For the last six years he has worked at the Red Lake
Seven Clans Casino. He kept his co-workers on their toes, and they
affectionately called him “Gramps.” He enjoyed gambling at the casino, car rides, watching the
Chicago Bears and Cubs. He loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by: Daughter, Peggy Ann DesJarlait of Ft. Berthold
, ND; Son, Darwin “Doss” Maxwell of Red Lake , MN;
Sisters, Eve (Mike) Beaulieu of Red Lake , MN;
Gloria DesJarlait of Bemidji; Brothers,
Leo DesJarlait Sr. of Red Lake
, MN; Myron DesJarlait
of Kansas; Herb Mountain Sr. of Blackduck , MN;
And 7
Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren, several adopted grandchildren, numerous
nieces, nephews; And
cousins.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, brothers Alfred DesJarlait, John DesJarlait, Simon DesJarlait, Francis DesJarlait, Art Schoenborn, Raymond “Joe” Roberts, sisters Loretta DesJarlait King, Lorena Hanson,
Gladys Romero, and Mary Meade.
