Hi “Duff”
Varney, whose Ojibwe name is Minomigwon,
18, of Red Lake, Minnesota died Monday, March 27, 2006 at his home in Saginaw, Michigan.
Funeral
services will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, April 5th,
2006 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church
in Red Lake, Minnesota with the Rev. Patrick Sullivan officiating. A wake
will begin on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at the Little Rock Community Center in Red Lake, and will continue until the services. Burial will
be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Red Lake, Minnesota. Funeral services will also be held at 4 PM on Friday, March 31st at the W.L. Case &
Co. Funeral Chapel in Saginaw, Michigan. Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck
assisted the family with local arrangements.
Active
pallbearers will be Adrian Sayers, Loren Barrett, Daryl Barrett, Leland Martin,
Travis Varney, Jr., William May, Gordon Lussier,
Leroy Varney, Jr., and Mike Donnell.
Honorary
pallbearers will be Ryan Barrett, Ricky Barrett, Cheyanne
Lussier, John Lussier, Jr.,
Josh Lussier, Tyrone Barrett, Dale Sayers, Nicole Lussier, Esther Sayers, Rachelle Lussier,
Buffy Barrett, Montana Kingbird, and Candece Johnson.
He was born on July 3, 1987 at Minneapolis, Minnesota the son of Leroy and Noreen (Lussier)
Varney, Sr.
He attended Red Lake High School until last spring, and last summer moved to Saginaw to be with his father prior to his death.
He enjoyed
hunting and fishing, going for rides on the four wheeler, playing games,
basketball, pool, playing play station, working out, and lifting weights.
He also enjoyed making and working on music with his brother, going to the
movies, socializing and spending time with his family. He liked to ride
dirt bike, going to the arcade, shooting guns, and cruising around. He
enjoyed quality family time and joking around. He liked to go swimming,
talking to girls, punching the punching bag, and he also liked dogs. He
was a very outgoing and kind person, was kid friendly, and loved his nieces,
nephews, cousins, and siblings. He had a one of a kind personality that
would light up the room with smiles. He will be missed by everyone.
He is survived
by his two brothers Leroy Varney, Jr. of Saginaw, Michigan and Travis (Sheena)
Varney, Sr. of Red Lake, MN; two sisters Elice
(Michael) Donnell of Red Lake, MN and Chanda Vanwert of Duluth, Minnesota; grandmother Lillian Varney of
Saginaw, Michigan; & numerous aunts, uncles ,cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded
in death by his parents, Leroy Varney, Sr. and Noreen Varney; a sister, Tanya
Varney; his grandparents; and numerous aunts and uncles.
