name Wabi-zhay-si-equay, which means White Martin
Woman, 35, of Cass Lake, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at North Country Regional
Hospital in Bemidji.
The funeral will be held at 2
p.m. Saturday at the Onigum Community
Center in Onigum with
the Rev. James Moses officiating. A wake began Thursday afternoon at the Onigum
Center and will continue
until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Old Agency Cemetery in Onigum.
The Cease Family Funeral Home of Cass Lake assisted the family with
arrangements.
Active pallbearers will be
Wayne Smith, Edward Blomseth, Jeff Goose Sr., George
Earth, Curtis Hoffman III and Cory Hoffman.
Honorary
pallbearers will be Tiffany Belcourt, Bonnie Earth,
Crystal Desjarlais, Deana Bruce, Jenni
Bruce and Debi Bruce.
She was born Dec. 19, 1972,
to Daniel and Bonita (Goose) Bruce in Minneapolis.
She grew up in Minneapolis.
She was a single stay-at-home mother. In 1995, she moved to Bemidji,
and in 1999, she moved to Cass
Lake. She loved cooking
and spending time with family and friends having fun. She enjoyed being
artistic, writing poetry, drawing and doing bead work.
She is survived by her mother
of Walker; children, Curtis Hoffman III, Cory Hoffman, Catherine Bruce and
Dalton Bruce, all of Walker; sisters, Debi Bruce, Diane Bruce, Deana Bruce and
Darla Bruce, all of Minneapols, Carrie Bruce and
Jeanie Goose of Walker; brothers, Danny Bruce of Minneapolis, Jimmy Bruce of
Minneapolis, Jeffrey Goose of Walker, John Goose of Minneapolis; numerous
nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles and aunts; and special friend, Fred Fairbanks
of Cass Lake.
She was preceded in death by
her father; and son, Douglas Bruce.
