BOBBY RICHARD PAULKINGBIRD

 

       Bobby Richard PaulKingbird, (Indian name, Wa-bi-shki-bi-nes which means, White Thunder Bird), 69, of Ponemah, Minnesota died Thursday, February 3, 2005 at the Jourdain/Perpich Extended Care Facility in Red Lake, Minnesota

      Cease Family Funeral Home of Blackduck is assisting the family with arrangements.        Traditional Indian services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 7, 2005 at the Ponemah Community Center in Ponemah, Minnesota with Spiritual Leader Thomas Stillday, Jr. officiating. A wake will begin in the afternoon on Saturday, February 5 in the Ponemah Community Center and will continue until the services. Burial will be at the Family Burial Grounds in Ponemah, Minnesota.

       Honorary pallbearers will be all his nieces and nephews and all who shared a cup of his special tea.

       Active pallbearers will be Don May, Gary Martin, Randall White, Garrette Caldwell, Jerrette Caldwell, Darrell Kingbird, and alternates Curtis Kingbird and Gerald Kingbird.

       Bobby was born on May 30, 1935 at Red Lake, Minnesota the son of Paul and Jane (Rushman) Kingbird. He was raised in Ponemah and lived most of his life there until moving to the Jourdain/Perpich Extended Care Facility in Red Lake. He did commercial fishing in the summer and worked in the woods logging in the winter. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, and snaring.

       He is survived by his four sons, Jefffrey (Jeani) Iceman of Blackduck, Michael (Charlene) Iceman of Ponemah, Terry Iceman of Ponemah and Leslie Iceman; two daughters, Paula Iceman of Ponemah and Missy Iceman of Ponemah; 4 grand daughters, 2 grandsons and 1 great grandson all of Ponemah; a brother, Lyman (Mabel) Kingbird of Red lake; a sister, Josephine Johnson of Dora Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews.

       He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Brian Iceman; 2 grand daughters, Victoria White and Michelle White; Wife, Rosalie Jane Iceman in 1973; brothers, John Kingbird, Sr, Jack Kingbird, Jr, Leo Kingbird Sr, and Johnson Kingbird; two sisters, Rosella Kingbird and Louisa Kingbird.
