Support rlnn.com and advertise

Become part of a new and exciting online community by advertising on Red Lake Net News (www.rlnn.com).  Advertising on www.rlnn.com is a quick and easy way for you to promote your business, program, product, event, and/or web page.

As a Native American news, information, and entertainment service, rlnn.com reaches a wide range of viewers: the entire Red Lake Tribal membership of almost 10,000 members, surrounding communities, students in schools and colleges, Native Americans in other locales and any person interested in Native American content in general.

As we continue to add new features and content areas to our site, along with additional information links, we will continue to grow and expand our coverage.  Indian communities who wish to share their stories on www.rlnn.com are encouraged to submit their work for publication—especially those in the surrounding areas of the Leech Lake and White Earth Indian Reservations.

How to Advertise

At rlnn.com, there are various ways to reach your audience–and we allow you to be as creative as you wish. One example is a ‘Target Ad’ which appears in a content area you designate, or a specific page. This enables you to reach users interested in a specific area of our site. Another is a ‘Sponsor Ad’ that ensures premium placement on the main page of rlnn.com. There, every user is guaranteed to see your ad because it is the first page visited. The ‘Full Page Ad’ is a full page designed to give viewers an opportunity to learn everything you want them to know about your program or business, within rlnn.com. It’s sort of like a mini-Webpage that can be as creative as you want it to be.

We also offer you competitive advertising rates. Contact us today at advertising@rlnn.com. We can also be reached at (218)679-5995 in Red Lake, Minnesota.

Ad Specifications

Our industry-standard ad specifications are as follows:

Ad banners are 468x60 pixels (width x height)

Ad banners must be in JPEG/GIF format

If you don't have a banner designed, our graphics team can help you design an effective advertisement.

In Conclusion

All payments are due before an ad campaign begins. Red Lake Net News reserves the right to reject any advertisement based on content. Remember, we are a site that your child or your own grandmother will be visiting.

A Message from Michael Barrett

In September 2003, I was pleased to announce the birth of Red Lake Net News, which was designed to be a weekly (eventually updated daily) Internet news service for the Red Lake Indian Reservation, featuring current and upcoming news events, activities, important timely information dissemination, and much, much more, all covering an endless variety of subjects. Currently the information within its pages have already been updated pretty much on a daily basis., 5-6 days per week.

Some people who view www.rlnn.com think the Website is owned by the Red Lake Tribe, and/or associated with the Red Lake Nation newspaper.  Although the Red Lake Tribe is very supportive and a major sponsor of the site, it is not owned or operated by anyone besides myself, and is primarily a one-person operation—believe it or not.  One lady couldn’t believe that and stated, you do put some of the larger news organizations who have large staffs working for them to shame.”

That is a very inspirational comment.

Red Lake Net News will also carry some articles from the Red Lake Nation Newspaper, published by the Red Lake Tribal Council, but will also have additional articles which can be submitted by virtually anyone with a story to tell, or something interesting to talk about. (The only limitations are that anything within the Website must not be offensive in nature and must meet the appeal of both a young and elder audience.)

Although the Website (rlnn.com) is going to be free to access by virtually anyone in the world, it is does need operating capital in the form of paid advertising, sponsorships, grants and simple honorariums. It also needs the undying support of the Red Lake Indian Reservation and the people that live here, as well as those members and other Native Americans from other areas. (Potential future expansion includes coverage for White Earth and Leech Lake Reservations, as well as other Indian Communities in the U.S. and Canada.  This has already begun in 2005.)

Any organization or program can contribute to the support of Red Lake Net News in the form of a cash donation or sponsorship beginning with as little as $30.00 for an individual, to a major sponsorship of up to $50,000 for a corporation, government or business entity. An individual sponsorship entitles the sponsor to his/her name as a sponsor of Red Lake Net News within the website. A business, program or corporate sponsorship entitles the sponsor to their own section within rlnn.com and any other information about their organization they wish to publish or make available to viewers of Red Lake Net News. The amount of the sponsorship would dictate the amount of time available to be spent on that particular information section, as well as time able to be spent promoting one’s program or business.

The minimum costs to advertise or support this site is going to be very inexpensive at a fixed rate of $30.00 per hour for the preparation and actual site work, and $30.00 per month for the space of the advertisement or information. All changes and updates, approved by the advertiser in advance, will be made at the $30.00 per hour rate, billed in 15 minute increments. All ads must be prepaid.

Major contributors and sponsors of Red Lake Net News will receive premium advertising and exposure space for advertising or information on the front page, as well as every new page created within the site. In other words, a major sponsor’s information will be accessible by virtually everyone who visits Red Lake Net News A major sponsor is an organization or individual who contributes a minimum of $3600.00 per year for their full support of Red Lake Net News. Major sponsors also have an unlimited amount of changes and the yearly contribution or sponsorship covers an entire 12 months of service.

All other advertisers, beginning Jan. 1, 2006, will pay a minimum $30.00 per month or $360.00 per year.  No contract will be initiated for any less than a six-month period of time because of the time involved in creating the pages.

If you would like to advertise or promote your program or service on Red Lake Net News, or just to support Red Lake Net News as the number one source of Red Lake information, or have questions, please call me at 679-5995, or write to Red Lake Net News, P.O. Box 80, Redby, MN 56670, or email me at mbarrett@rlnn.com.

The Website has been up and running since September 2003, with January 2004 daily hits per day at between 150-200, and steadily increasing.  Projected traffic has been estimated to reach a minimum 1000 hits per day by June 30, 2004, and currently, at the end of 2005, the daily hits to the index page has been averaging about 1500 per day—with page views 6000-7000 per day—and still increasing.  (There is no reason why the site would see a decline in traffic.)  Those hitting the site include Red Lake members, other Native Americans, and non-Indians, and not necessarily always in that order.  Those that view are from literally all over the world.  (There have even been requests for different language versions of www.rlnn.com, including a Spanish, Japanese, German and French additions.  I am considering programs that would convert to those languages.)

There will be no printed editions, but anyone can print anything within the Website, including all photographs, as long as credit is given to Red Lake Net News and the material is not used for reprint.  Permission must always be requested to use any photograph within the site for reproduction, and anything within the site is the property of Red Lake Net News exclusively.  Any person within a photograph appearing on www.rlnn.com also has certain ownership rights of that picture as well.

Have a good 2006, everyone, and any questions you may have about anything within Red Lake Net News, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me.

Sincerely and respectfully,

Michael Barrett
