FORESTRY PROGRAM


POSITION: Forestry Technician(Timber Sale Preparation - two positions)


STARTING SALARY: $21,000 - $23,000, Based on Qualifications


CLOSING DATE: Friday, June 11, 2004





INTRODUCTION:

This position is a field position based in Red Lake and will function as a staff assistant within the Forestry program. This position is under the direct supervision of the Tribal Timber Sales Preparation Forester.


DUTIES:

Assists in the planning and preparation of timber sales on the Red Lake Indian Reservation. Develops silvicultural prescriptions in conjunction with the Timber Sales Forester. Cruises and marks timber in accordance with the appropriate prescriptions. Plans and directs surveys for the collection, analysis, and documentation of data relating to timber sales. Updates forest inventory records as necessary. Assists with timber sales administration as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

At a minimum, candidate must have successfully completed the one year certificate program in Forestry offered by the Northwest Technical College satellite program in Redby. Alternately, candidate must have completed a similar program in Forestry which resulted in a certificate or technical degree in Forestry. A copy of the certificate or proof of graduation must be included with the application.
