Red Lake Girls Softball team falls to Nevis 21-9

      After trailing 6-3 after the first inning Nevis senior Alexis Potter cleared the bases in the bottom half of the second with a grand slam that opened the floodgates as Nevis went on the defeat Red Lake 21-9 on their home field.

      Brittany Welsch, Jill Wizik, Jessica Poole and Lindsey Wizik all walked to start the second before Potter’s home run. The scoring barrage continued as Samantha Potter doubled, Chandra Buck walked, Jesse Mastrain singled and Weslch walked again. Jill Wizik reached on an error before Poole was out on a fielders choice. Lindsay Wizik and Alexis Potter both singled before Samantha Potter recorded the third out to end a 12-run second inning.

      Nevis added six in the third and one run in the fourth to end the game.

      Red Lake scored six in the first added two in the fourth and one in the fifth.

      Jill Wizik picked up the win and Katie Perkins got the loss.

      Nevis travels to Moondance Fields to face WHA Tuesday.
