The 7th Annual Red Lake Diabetes Conference, sponsored by Red Lake Comprehensive Health Services and the Red Lake Tribal Council, was held at New Beginnings in Redby on April 16, 2004, and featured a variety educational information on diabetes.  The day-long conference featured a Keynote Address by Diabetes Educator/Coordinator Charmaine Branchaud, the Red Lake Diabetes Team/Substance Abuse Healthy Lifestyles Panel,, mini-session workshops, a Walk Against Diabetes (MMAD), blood sugar and blood pressure screenings, and Diabetes Bingo.

The mini-session workshops included Metabolic Syndrome conducted by Charmaine Branchaud, Diabetes Educator/Coordinator; Risk Factors for Heart Disease with Rachele M. Donnell, Red Lake Community Health Nursing; Diabetic Medication with Eileen Sumner, Diabetes Educator; Eating for Diabetes Prevention and Management with Jill Breyen, Registered Dietitian; Mental Wellness with Peter Mitby, Licensed Clinical Psychologist; and Physical Fitness, with the Red Lake and Ponemah Fitness Program Assistant, Charlie Norris.
Charmaine Branchaud, RN. CDE Diabetes Educator and Coordinator, was the Keynote Speaker at the 7th Annual Red Lake Diabetes Conference.  She spoke about the diabetes epidemic nationwide and on the Red Lake Indian Reservation, what they were doing to combat the disease, as well as provided statistical and practical information.
