Buck with toenail problem

I recived the following email and thought it was a hoax, a computer enhanced picture. So I googled "Deer with toenail problem" and found a guy from Green Bay Wisconsin had posted this same picture on a hunting site.  I then checked out the Winona Daily newspaper on WinonaDailyNews.com and found nothing. Humm......  I then emailed the Winona Daily News in Winona , Minnesota and this is the reply I received:

"I can assure you that this was a very real photo that ran in the Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006 WDN on page 8B.

There was no story, just a photo caption titled "Hoofin' it". The hooves were severely overgrown. The deer was killed in an automobile accident in Alma, Wis.

Since this was a contributed photo, I have no way to send it to you. If you want to see it then your best bet is to visit the Winona Public Library, or stop by the Daily News office and see if they still have a back-issue available."

How in the heck did he walk....no way could he run.   This was in the Sunday's edition of the Winona Daily.   This buck was a truck kill near Alma. DNR said that high protein, specifically corn was the cause of the abnormal feet.   It's a condition called skid foot.   The deer is currently sitting in the Alma Bait Shop freezer.

Believe it or not-not.....The extra 'not' ust so Ripley's won't try to start another lawsuit.
