Millions of dollars to Red Lake get politicians elected

Bemidji Pioneer

Hosea 4:6 states, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

The political bias of the Pioneer would have prevented us from knowing the facts presented in the political advertisement of Oct. 25 provided by Terry Maddy and Citizens for Truth in Government. Everyone should read this ad, then make up their own mind what should be done about what it reveals.

In the last biennium Sen. Rod Skoe and Rep. Brita Sailer, both DFLers, have authored and co-authored bills to give Red Lake over $75 million of taxpayer money, in addition to almost $15 million given each year for the operation of Red Lake schools, plus the federal government also gives millions to the school. Rep. Frank Moe, DFL, co-authored several of these bills.

It appears that millions of dollars funneled into Red Lake Reservation is a way for politicians to get elected and never worry about the accountability of those dollars!

Red Lake students need and are entitled to quality education and facilities paid by tax-payers. But these taxpayers should be all tax-payers in the United States. This spreads the tax burden across all states and doesn’t give any elected officials the opportunity to trade Minnesota taxpayer dollars for Red Lake votes.

EDITOR’S NOTE:  I have no idea what these two women are trying to make a point of, aside from accusing Sen. Skoe, Rep. Sailer and Rep. Moe of ‘buying’ Red Lake votes.  First they quote the Bible, state we should read some political advertisement in the Pioneer (aren’t we all sick of that), and all of a sudden state “…these taxpayers should be all taxpayers in the United States?”  Are these two women stating Red Lakers do not pay taxes or that Red Lake isn’t in the United States or a part of Minnesota?

Maybe you just have to be a Republican to understand Republicans, I guess…
