IN MEMORY OF UNCLE DASH…

When I think of you, it always brings a smile to my face, because all my memories of you are good ones.

I remember when I was a teenager and I had a leather jacket, you’d always say “cool, but cold eh wee niece?”.  Or the time my sister had a fathers day cookout and called to invite you to your favorite nieces house.  You came to my house and no one was around, then you went to my sisters’ house and found us, telling everyone your story of looking at the wrong house first.  I get a good chuckle off that one.

I always enjoyed seeing you nearly every morning at the Trading Post getting our newspapers, and you’d say “morning wee Niece”, some mornings, I think I still hear your voice. Or the time I was a Dispatcher and you wouldn’t answer my call so I had backup units heading to assist you, when you came back on, breathless, with your 10-15.  You came back to the station and told me you were hiding by a trash bin, waiting for the suspect to come back and a bear came out too.  You said, “if you wait long enough, they always come out of hiding, no need to chase em”.

During the past year, I wouldn’t let myself think too much about you because I want to cry, no matter where I am, and I know once I start it will take awhile to stop.   I know I’ll have to face things, and maybe now is the time to just let it flow, and move on, no matter how hard it is.

All your great nieces and nephews birthdays aren’t the same without you, and the pot lucks just don’t have the same touch without your bucket of KFC, we all miss you so much…until we meet again Uncle, I love you.

One of your Wee Niece’s,

Charms
