Young Leaders Visit Washington, D.C.
Two Red Lake
Middle School students, Kevin Cook
and Mariah Martin, recently participated in a
People-to-People Leadership Summit
in Washington, D.C. Middle school students from around the nation
converged for a week of leadership training and exploration of U.S.
history.
While in D.C., the students were able to visit many
historical sights, including Gettysburg,
Jamestown, Arlington
Cemetery, and Williamsburg. They toured the Dwight Eisenhower farm and
the Holocaust Museum. Trips were made to the Capitol, the Library
of Congress, the Supreme Court and many of the Smithsonian Museums. These students were selected for this trip by
their teachers and were chosen because of their leadership qualities.
The Summit is sponsored by the Dwight D. Eisenhower
Foundation and facilitates 12 summits a year, hosting approximately 4000 young
leaders.
