Minnesota History Day 2005

14 Red Lake Middle School students earned the right to participate in the Minnesota. State History Day competition at the University of Minnesota on Apr. 1st.  History Day is organized by the Minnesota Historical Society.  Students are given the opportunity to select and research a historical subject of choice.  They then present a paper, a performance, a documentary or an exhibit detailing their research.  After competing at the Regional level at Bemidji State Univ., students earn the opportunity to present at the state competition.  Red Lake's group performance on Ojibwe Traditional and Generational Storytelling won the honor for the top Native American project for Minnesota.  Members of this group were Money Stately, Bianca Mendoza, Eliza Lussier, Brooke Neadeau and Lisa Butcher.
