FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Statement of Tribal Chairman Floyd Jourdain

Red Lake Minnesota

April 1, 2007

We are deeply saddened & hurt by Sunday’s discovery of two bodies that were recovered from a small lake in the walking shield community of the Red Lake reservation by the Red Lake Police Department, The FBI, and authorities from St Louis County. The deceased have been identified by the Federal Bureau of Investigation as Tristan White, and Avery Stately. These two boys have been missing since November of 2006.

So many people were hoping for the safe return of these boys back home. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family in the wake of this disappointing news, and their heartbreaking loss.

At this time an investigation is ongoing, and there have been no conclusions made by authorities other than that the bodies discovered are in fact of the two missing boys.

The Red Lake Tribal Council and the Department of Public safety convey sincere gratitude to all the people, and agencies that devoted so much time, energy, and resources to finding the missing children. Your efforts are deeply appreciated by the family of the deceased, the reservation communities, and the entire Red Lake Nation membership.

Floyd Jourdain Jr
