CLB sets new marks again this season
The Class 1A State Runner-Up
Cass Lake-Bena boys
basketball team set new state records in the major offensive categories this
season.
The team was the first team
in history to score over 3,000 points in a season. The record of 3,099 points
shattered the old record of 2,894 set by Maranatha Christian Academy
in 2006. Cass Lake-Bena is also third in the same
category with 2,886 set in 2006.
The Panthers
broke their own record in “Most Average Points-Season” category with 96.84
points per game breaking their own record of 96.20 ppg
set last season.
Other records broken were
“Overall Field Goals Attempted-Season” with 2,424 breaking the record of Maranatha
Christian Academy
of 2,411 set last season. The “Overall Field Goals Made-Season” record category
was set with 1,263 breaking Cass Lake-Bena’s record
of 1,207 set last season.
Cass Lake-Bena
missed the record in the “Most Rebounds-Season” by ten rebounds. The current
record of 1,405 rebounds was set by the Panthers last season. The Panthers also
are 4th in the same category with 1,349 in 2005.

Cass Lake will host a Golden Gloves boxing card
Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Palace Casino.
There will be eight senior
bouts and seven junior bouts for boxers 16 and younger with fighters from Leech Lake, Duluth, St. Cloud, Fergus Falls,
White Earth, Winnipeg and Red Lake.
Admission is $7 for adults
and $3.50 or 18 and younger.
Leech Lake Gym boxers on the
card include J.R. Robinson, Romondo Papasadora, Tony Bushey, Damian
Thompson, Eric Dahlheimer, Savannah Osborne and Cody Goggleye.
Dahlheimer and Osborne are Bemidji residents with Osborne better known
as the BHS girls hockey goalie this winter.
She will meet an opponent
from Winnipeg.
She is the defending Upper Midwest Golden Gloves 132 pound champion.
