In Memory of Michelle Sigana

The Year had been going by so slow.  It was sad day for the whole Red Lake Nation and it still is..  I missed those who lost their lives on the worst day of our lives.  Dwayne Lewis Jr, Chanell Rosebear, and Michelle Sigana.  I know that they're up there, smiling down, shed tears with the Nation, and watching over the Nation.  All we can do is, thinking about them for those who lost their lives.

Back in the December.  The date was Dec, 29th.  I got hired at the Seven Clans casino.  I met this person.  The person who worked the same place where I work, the same shift, same department, but different days off.  Her name was Michelle Sigana.  When I first met this person, she was quiet at first, hiding her smiles with her hand.  I've got to know her, little by little, day after day.  She was very good at frontline window.  She was the best cashier that I ever met.  I know that I can't compare her with other cashiers.  I can even say that she's better than me.  When I got to work that one time, after I done counting my banks in.  She came to me, with her exchange.  She just chuckled at me when I said this, "Ahh, man.  I just got here.  You're always put me to work right away, huh."    But you know what.  I missed that.  She does that everyday when I get to work.  I was lucky to have a harder worker like her.  She will be remembered.  I guess that I can't be mad at her.  Cause, she beat me with the Employee of the Month, three months straight.  I was happy for her, which I still am.  During those three months, we worked together, have fun together, and got to know each other, also.  In our shift, I've seen her writing her son's name all the time.  I guess she was bored so I had to do something to get her out of her boredom.  It was great to have her as a cashier.

Now, here come the worst part.  March 21, 2005.  The news was about the Red Lake High School shooting.  It was my night off.  My boss called me at 9:15 in the evening and told me the bad news.  She was shot and killed.  I didnt believe it at first till I watched the news.  I was sad and I had tears.  I always wanted to see her when I get back from my days off.  But, this took her life.  So, I went in for my boss like she (Muriel McGraw) wanted me to and Shane, my Lead Supervisor.  Cause their relatives was in the shooting also.  So, I did.  I came in everyday for both of my bosses.  The month of April was the stressful for me, but I made it thru.  I had to do what I had to do.  Some of my cashiers were missing also, because of that shootings.  But, we hung in there though.  I wanna thanks Jenni Spears and Ann Martin for being there to help out during those worst days of our lives.  I do want to dedicated my hard works of April to Michelle Sigana.  She'll always be in my heart and thought as I'm working.  I know she's still around cause I can feel her spirit roaming around in the dept.  I ain't scare, I'm just happy she's there cause because of the job she loved to do.  It was her first time worked at the casino.  Michelle Sigana, we still do shed tears with you as the whole crew missing you and thinking of you.  I missed you.  I know that we can meet someday.  I will wait.  R.I.P. Michelle.  But, still.  It's hard to let you go.  See you later is better way to say.
