By Bethany Wesley Teddi Leigh Wind, 21, of According to the criminal
complaint, police were called at about 3:25 a.m. Saturday to Ridgeway Avenue
Apartments in regards to a fight. Upon arrival, officers saw a group of females
running between 2830 Ridgeway and 2910 Ridgeway, the complaint said. A police officer followed the
women, stating that he was a police officer and commanded them to stop, the
complaint said. The four females did eventually stop. One of the
women, later identified as Wind, got on her knees and placed her hands behind
her head, the complaint said. She had blood on her face and shirt. One of the remaining three
women stated that Wind had stabbed her, the complaint said. Officers noted two
small stab wounds in the woman’s upper left shoulder. The other two women told
police that a man also had been stabbed and he needed medical attention,
because he was “bleeding badly,” the complaint said. At a nearby location on the
900 block of Officers followed the vehicle
to “Who stabbed (the man) is
still under investigation, but it is believed Wind stabbing (the injured woman)
occurred after (the man) was stabbed and was in some way a response or related
to the incident,” the complaint said. The injured woman told police
she was at a woman’s apartment with several other people when Wind and the man
arrived, the complaint said. A fight broke out between the man and another man
in a hallway, but the woman said she did not see anyone get stabbed, the
complaint said. “There was blood everywhere
in the hallway,” the complaint said. The injured woman told police
that after the fight, everyone left the apartment, but as they proceeded
outside, she was confronted by Wind, who called her names and then stabbed her
twice in the shoulder, the complaint said. Everyone ran toward Another woman reported that
she had seen Wind stab the woman and then toss the knife between the two
apartment complexes, the complaint said. The knife believed to have been used
to stab the woman was recovered by police. The woman who had been
stabbed did not know Wind’s name, nor was she able to pick her out of a photo
lineup, as she said she did not get a look at her face, the complaint said. She
did say that she was stabbed by a woman wearing a white muscle T-shirt, the
complaint said. Police said the Wind was wearing a white muscle T-shirt with
blood on it when officers arrived, the complaint said. After she was arrested and
was being transported to Beltrami County Jail, Wind told police that a female
had stabbed her boyfriend, believed to be the injured male, and that was the
reason she was in her current position, the complaint said. |
