ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR

OPEN TILL FILLED

 

 

Title:                     Activities Coordinator

 

                               Work Schedule:  FULL TIME, 40 Hours per week, Monday-Friday, between 1-9pm, Summer Hours 12-8pm, with occasional weekend responsibilities for training, special events, and sports leagues.  

 

Wage:                     $12.00 or DOQ/DOE

 

Reports To:           Executive Director and Program Director

 

Job Description:

 

Plan, implement, supervise and evaluate activities in the Sports, Fitness, and Recreation Core Program area for youth between the ages of 6-12.  Responsible for gathering information and materials that will enhance any sports, fitness, or recreation activity.  Will also assist other program staff and will work directly with youth in various after school programs such as, Power Hour, Smart Moves, TRAIL, Triple Play Sports Club and P.L.A.Y. DAILY.  The Coordinator will become familiar with issues of youth and youth programming as well as skills, procedures, and strategies involved in planning sports fitness activities.   

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

   Valid Driver’s License and Proof of Insurance

      Minimum of 1-5 years experience working with youth

Ø      18 years or older

      Successfully complete criminal background check and drug test

      First Aid & CPR Certification

      Serve as a positive force in the organization and achieve a high standard of professionalism and customer     service through effective communication, personal motivation, and interpersonal skills with Members, peers, superiors, parents and the general public

       Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks and to develop solutions to problems with limited supervision.

       Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

       A positive attitude and mature personality conducive to working effectively as a team player with    members, staff, volunteers, parents/guardians and others.

   Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel and Powerpoint, Internet Explorer

       Demonstrating skills required in:  communication, decision making, personal initiative, planning and group    leadership

       Post-Secondary education (Associates or Bachelors)

       Proven knowledge, understanding of youth development &/or educational work with youth, families and organizations of the Red Lake Reservation

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

         Implement the youth development strategies to assist members in achieving Boys & Girls clubs outcomes;

         Complete weekly/monthly calendar of scheduled activities

         Will work with Program Director on statistical data on daily members

         Instill a sense of sportsmanship, teamwork and fair play in members;

         Lead daily opportunities for non-competitive physical education activities which appeal to girls and boys of all ages to help them adopt healthy, active lifestyles;

         Provide guidance, mentoring and role modeling to members;

         Supervise members on field trips;

         Respect confidentiality of members, employees, volunteers and information;

         Strive to achieve a high standard of professionalism in effective communication, personal motivation and interpersonal skills with members, peers, superiors, parents, volunteers and the general public;

         Contribute to the successful implementation of policies and procedures, professional standards and communication throughout the Boys & Girls Club of Red Lake.

         Maintain an environment that insures health and safety of members by monitoring the Sports, Fitness & Recreation Program areas including the Gym, Activity Room, and maintain a high degree of awareness for a safe environment.

         Assist in providing proper care and maintenance for recreation equipment and other assigned resources.
