Letter: White government created Red Lake’s problems first

Bemidji Pioneer

In response to Mr. Daken’s letter about Red Lake I can only say this.

The white government made all of these laws and grants and welfare and all of the things that he is complaining about, yet he acts as though the natives have the mighty white government by the tail and impose their freeloading ways on them. He should probably share some of that hate he has for native Americans with his almighty government that made these laws and programs to make the natives dependant on them.

They would be pacified and quit trying to fight for their land and way of life, I wonder what kind of welfare those red scoundrels were on before the white man in his infinite wisdom (and greed) came to this land? I think the first welfare line was started by a quivering mob of starving Quakers who lined up to receive handouts from lowly natives. We all know how they were repaid for their act of kindness. It’s hard to believe with illegal aliens pouring into this country he is more worried about the Red Lake border than the southern border. The government could learn a lot from the native Americans who also had weak immigration policies.

I don’t see why the government just doesn’t slaughter the remaining natives and take what they want like a rapist or thief would do if he sees something he wants. That’s how they’ve acquired everything else. Then Mr. Daken and his buddies could go a fishing, cause that’s what is important — not government treaties or Indians whining about how they were slaughtered or screwed out of this or that. Just take it and be done with it so this guy can go fishing.
