Letter:
Mr. Beaulieu’s response regarding Red Lake waters
TO THE EDITOR:
My name is Dale Bohn and I’m an enrolled Red Lake Indian. I have
never lived on any reservation. My dad
is white and my mother is a full blood from Ponemah;
she is a Hardy.
I wrote a somewhat angry or sarcastic (you chose) response to a
ridiculous letter to the editor that was printed in the Pioneer by a man from Kelliher. I was very impressed by Mr. Beaulieu’s
response to Mr. Spaulding’s letter to the editor regarding Red Lake waters.
Not having lived on the reservation I do not know a lot about some
of the fine details of the current fishing ”crisis “ the neighboring white
anglers are experiencing, but I know a whining bigot when I read one, and I
just had to do my part in addressing the concerns this guy has been fretting
over.
Anyway my point is this, Mr. Beaulieu is
a very informed person who not only informed me, but a lot of people about the
legal position of Red Lake as a nation and I thank him for that. I hope
he continues to answer these whining anglers who don’t respect our Red Lake
borders because they think of us as subhuman beings who can’t or do not deserve
to govern themselves.
With gas pushing $3.00 a gallon and basically an invasion taking
place from Mexico, a war in Iraq and an impending war in Iran, maybe Red Lake’s borders should not be the most
pressing issue on people’s minds.
Thank you and stay in the fight.
