The North American Indigenous Games will be held on July 2-8, 2006 in Denver, Colorado. Many members of the Red Lake Band are participating in the games.
Our daughter Krystal Jourdain is competing in the 15-16 years old girls basketball. Krystal was an 8th grade varsity starter for the Red Lake High School Lady Warriors during the 2005-2006 basketball season. Krystal started the season on the 8th grade basketball team and was promoted to varsity level in January 2006. In January Krystal tied a state record with 14 blocked shots in a game, losing to Indus. Krystal ended the season with 100 blocked shots and 95 rebounds.
I believe there is only two girls from Red Lake competing, Krystal and Vestanna Cook who is also an 8th grader that played varsity basketball for Red Lake High School. Vestanna is the daughter of Kevin Cook and Karen White and is playing for the 13-14 year old team.
Good Luck to Krystal and Vestanna and everyone else participating in the Indigenous Games.
Thanks much,
Wendy and Gary Jourdain |
