Witness in Mpls. Slaying leads police to body in Aitkin County

Associated Press

AITKIN, Minn. - A witness in a Minneapolis slaying who led authorities to the body of a woman buried in the woods in Aitkin County was charged with second-degree murder Thursday.

Jason Lee Quaderer, 21, of Minneapolis, was arraigned in Aitkin County District Court. Sheriff Scott Turner said he admitted to killing the woman whose body was discovered in the woods.

Quaderer was arrested by Aitkin County authorities after leading Minneapolis police to the body, Turner said. Authorities didn't immediately release the name of the woman but said they believed she had been killed in December.

According to Minneapolis police Lt. Amelia Huffman, there was no known link between the case in Aitkin County and Douglas D. McFarlane, 19, of Brooklyn Center, who was fatally shot in Minneapolis early Tuesday. There have been no arrests in that case.

Minneapolis police questioned Quaderer about McFarlane's death early Tuesday morning. He left and then returned in the early afternoon to inform them about the slain woman, Huffman said.

Quaderer is not a suspect in McFarlane's death, Huffman said.
