Sailer takes oath of office for 2nd term in Minn. Legislature

ST. PAUL – Brita Sailer of Park Rapids was officially sworn in as the District 2B State

Representative as the 85th Legislative Session convened on January 3rd at the State

Capitol.  Sailer is beginning her second term as State Representative, and plans to use her experience as a returning legislator to work for a better, stronger, more secure future for Minnesota.

“It is an honor and a privilege to represent the citizens of District 2B at the Capitol,” Sailer said. “I would like to thank the voters for giving me the opportunity, and I look forward to a productive session that results in a Minnesota that is a better place to live, work and raise a family.”

As a member of the new DFL majority, Sailer is looking forward to passing legislation that will benefit all Minnesotans.

"We have some big challenges and some unprecedented opportunities ahead of us," said Sailer. "I'm optimistic about the level of support for our top priorities of affordable health care, stable education funding, property tax relief and increasing energy independence."

Sailer was recently named Vice Chair of the powerful Finance Committee, charged with overseeing the assembly of the state budget in the Minnesota House.  She will also serve on an additional five committees, including Energy Policy and Finance, Environment Policy, Minnesota Heritage Finance, Public Safety and Civil Justice, and the Telecom Regulation Division.

“My goal each day is to make sure all of the people of my district have a voice at the State Capitol,” Sailer said. “Citizen involvement in the legislative process is essential, and I welcome input, questions and concerns."

You can contact Rep. Brita Sailer at (651) 296-4265, 577 State Office Building, 100 Martin Luther King Boulevard, St. Paul, MN 55155 or via e-mail at rep.brita.sailer@house.mn.
