Sailer takes oath of office for 2nd term in Minn.

ST. PAUL
– Brita Sailer of Park Rapids was officially sworn in
as the District 2B State
Representative as the 85th Legislative Session
convened on January 3rd at the State
Capitol. Sailer is beginning
her second term as State Representative, and plans to use her experience as a
returning legislator to work for a better, stronger, more secure future for Minnesota.
“It is an honor and a privilege to represent the citizens
of District 2B at the Capitol,” Sailer said. “I would
like to thank the voters for giving me the opportunity, and I look forward to a
productive session that results in a Minnesota
that is a better place to live, work and raise a family.”
As a member of the new DFL majority, Sailer
is looking forward to passing legislation that will benefit all Minnesotans.
"We have some big challenges and some unprecedented
opportunities ahead of us," said Sailer.
"I'm optimistic about the level of support for our top priorities of
affordable health care, stable education funding, property tax relief and
increasing energy independence."
Sailer was recently named Vice
Chair of the powerful Finance Committee, charged with overseeing the assembly
of the state budget in the Minnesota House.
She will also serve on an additional five committees, including Energy
Policy and Finance, Environment Policy, Minnesota Heritage Finance, Public
Safety and Civil Justice, and the Telecom Regulation Division.
“My goal each day is to make sure all of the people of my
district have a voice at the State Capitol,” Sailer
said. “Citizen involvement in the legislative process
is essential, and I welcome input, questions and concerns."
