Autopsy finds man died of blood loss

An autopsy performed Tuesday
showed that a Lockwood man who was shot on the Crow Indian Reservation died
from loss of blood, Big Horn County Coroner Terry Bullis
said.
Austin J. Jawort, 25, was pronounced dead Sunday
afternoon at the Big
Horn County
Memorial Hospital
in Hardin.
Federal agents continued Tuesday to investigate whether the shooting was an
accident or intentional, said FBI Special Agent in Charge Ernie Weyand.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs is also involved in the investigation. Weyand would release no further details.
He declined to comment on
the results of the autopsy or whether any arrests have been made.
Family members told The Gazette on Monday that Jawort
was visiting his girlfriend in Busby over the weekend when he became stranded
without a ride in Hardin.
They said Jawort was brought to the hospital by one
of two men who were riding with him in a pickup truck at the time of the
shooting. The other man apparently fled after the shooting but was found later.
