Clearbrook-Gonvick remains unbeaten with 57-47 win over Red Lake

     RED LAKE The Red Lake boys basketball team gave Class As No. 3 team Clearbrook-Gonvick all they could handle Tuesday but came up short 57-47.

     Jonny Berg led all scorers with 19 points for CG, who improves to 13-0 on the year.

     The Warriors were led by Daryl Crowe with 11 points.

     Nate Bahr and Scott Stebe also scored in double figures for the Bears with 13 and 10 points respectively.

     Red Lake (8-7) hosts Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Friday while Clearbrook-Gonvick is at Bagley the same night.

     LAPORTE The Laporte boys basketball team improved to 4-8 on the year with a 57-45 win over Blackduck Tuesday.

     It followed a 60-54 overtime win over Northland Monday.

     Senior Jamie Day led the balanced scoring for Laporte with 13 points. Teddy Reimer hit 12 and Tyler Day added 11 points.

     Cody Townsend took scoring honors with 21 points and Adam Beck added 10 points for Blackduck.

     In Mondays win over Northland Jamie Day led with 21 points while Tyler Day added 14 and Reimer 12.

     Blackduck (0-11) host Lake of the Woods Tuesday while Laporte is at Kelliher/Northome the same night.

     TWIN VALLEY Junior Kevin Muller had an impressive night for the Cass Lake-Bena boys basketball team Monday scoring a career high 27 points and adding 16 rebounds in a 90-67 win over Norman County East.

     Seniors Byron Ninham and Bill Brown also hit in the 20s with Ninham netting 27 and Brown 22.

     Michael Anderson led the Eagles with 21 points.

     CLB (14-2) hosts Kelliher/Northome Thursday.

     NEVIS The Nevis Tigers jumped out to a 34-22 lead at halftime and went on to beat Sebeka 48-42 Thursday.

     Willy Wicks led the home team with 12 points. Kent Trehus added 11 points all in the first half.

     Corey Hess led the Trojans with 13 points.

     Nevis (5-7) hosts Laporte Friday in a makeup game. The Nevis versus Pine River/Backus game has been rescheduled for Feb. 3.
