The Muslim Stamp Issue
Dear Sir : I cannot believe that a people who have been persecuted and despised by the larger majority of Americans just because you are Native American and culturally different, that the Red Lake Web page would promote racism and hatred against the Muslim faith. Remember, not all Muslim people bombed or killed anyone, just as not all Native Americans were killers of white settlers. Please do not promote this racism by asking others to pass it on and to boycott the Muslim Stamp. We must celebrate diversity, are not the Native Americans a diverse and proud race also. Have we learned to be like the white European settlers to this country and despise those who are different and culturally not like the Anglo Saxon? Remember, the white settlers killed and destroyed thousands of Indian people and stole millions of acres of land, do we boycott them too! Dwayne Miller
Mr. Miller,
First of all, rlnn.com (Red Lake Net News) is not specifically a Red Lake Webpage, but a news and information Webpage ‘for’ the people of the Red Lake Indian Reservation, and not directly associated with the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians–although they are a sponsor.
Secondly, rlnn.com is in no way ‘promoting’ racism of any type. The Muslim stamp issue was an ‘opinion’ offered by one of the readers of the Webpage, and ‘only’ an opinion, not meant to promote anything but free speech.
Your ‘opinion’, and I will add that it is a good and honest opinion, will be posted just as it was written in response to this original opinion–which is all the issue was to begin with.
