The son of state Rep. Doug Magnus, R-Slayton, is awaiting trial on a drug charge after authorities found 2.5 grams of methamphetamine in his vehicle during a traffic stop.
Clinton Rudy Magnus, 25, of Slayton, was charged Monday in Murray County District Court. He is out on bail.
"Methamphetamine is a terrible and viciously addictive drug," said the elder Magnus, who co-authored an anti-methamphetamine bill that became law July 1. "My son has been fighting meth addiction for some time."
According to the criminal complaint, a Murray County deputy pulled over a car late Friday.
Clint Magnus, a passenger in the car, was arrested on an outstanding traffic warrant.
A glass pipe and meth were found under the front passenger seat. Clint Magnus later admitted the meth was his. The driver of the car, Brian Keith Rosenberg, 36, of Slayton, was cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
