Fairbanks nets 19 in Gold loss

ST. CLOUD – Cass Lake-Bena’s Brady Fairbanks netted 18 points for the Gold team but Blue prevailed 127-101 in one of two coaches association boys basketball all-star games Friday night at St. Cloud State’s Halenbeck Hall.

The Bemidji State recruit also added five rebounds, three assists and two steals.

In the other game Maroon defeated Green 104-94.

Duluth East’s Ryan Shea led the Gold with 20 points. The Blue team got a game-high 24 from Kingsland’s Alex Nelson.

St. Bernard’s Trevor Mbawke, Marquette recruit, and Monticello’s Mitchel Grundman paced Green with 18 points each. Maroon got 16 points from Osseo’s Xavier Reed.

The Gold plays the Green for third place at 2:15 p.m. today at Concordia-St. Paul. Blue plays Maroon at about 4 p.m. for the championship.
