CRAFT Assistant

Primary Function:

Assists with all aspects of the program.  Half-time position, reporting to the CRAFT Coordinator.

 

Essential Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Works with the Coordinator to collaborate and communicate with tribal prosecutor, community elders, and clients involved in the project to promote positive public relations and meet project objectives.
  • Assists coordinator in the planning, implementation and scheduling of meetings with Elder Judges and youth.
  • Assists coordinator with therapeutic Ojibwe C.R.A.F.T. workshops.
  • Assists youth in creating Ojibwe crafts and beadwork gifts for restitution.
  • Assists coordinator in keeping current files, and progress reports of the project.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

·       G.E.D./High school diploma

·       At least one year experience/knowledge of tribal juvenile court protocol.

·       Valid State drivers license and auto insurance.

·       Knowledge of culture and traditions of the Red Lake Ojibwe, as well as knowledge of Ojibwe craft making and beadwork.

·       Must be able to work effectively with youth and Elders.

·       Positive role model for youth and community members at Red Lake.

·       Must be willing to work evening hours, as well as weekends when necessary.

·       Knowledge of policies as it pertains to confidentiality.
