JOB NOTICE

MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

District 2-Bemidji

The Minnesota Department of Transportation, District 2, will be accepting resumes until,

 Monday, March 24, 2008, to fill the following temporary summer positions in Crookston:

2 TA/TG       $15.19 hr./$16.24 hr.

3 Laborers   $12.75 hr.

Duties:

These are temporary positions with anticipated working dates of approximately May 14 to September 16.  Duties include traffic control, road patching, routine sign maintenance and other road maintenance duties.  Frequent lifting and/or carrying objects such as heavy tools and field supplies is required.  Some travel may be required and crews may be required to work overtime.  Candidates will be required to pass a back assessment and drug and alcohol test.  Applicants must be 18 years of age.

Minimum Qualifications (Transportation Generalist Level):

·       One (1) year of experience in roadway operations or roadway maintenance related activities (e.g. roadway and roadside maintenance, road construction, driving commercial vehicles, operating heavy equipment, farm experience, snow plow operations).

·       Valid Class A driver’s license.

Minimum Qualifications (Transportation Associate Level):

·       Basic math sufficient to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.

·       Communication skills sufficient to read and understand written work related materials, highway traffic signs and signals.

·       Valid Class B driver’s license. 

Minimum Qualifications (Laborer Level):

·       Ability to follow written and oral instructions.

·       Valid Class D driver’s license (this is a basic driver’s license).

·       Preference will be given to those with maintenance or construction roadway experience.
