FINANCIAL SPECIALIST

DEPT:             CHILD SUPPORT PROGRAM                 SALARY:       DOQ

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Financial Specialist is responsible for all financial case management tasks regarding child support payments. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Ability to develop, implement, maintain and continuously update on a daily basis financial case management records using Excel, Microsoft Word and internal child support database. 
  2. Allocate child support payments.
  3. Post child support payments to individual case accounts.
  4. Maintain case account debts and balances.
  5. Calculate and generate records of payments.
  6. Generate and process Income Withholding Notices.
  7. Case closures.
  8. Prepares financial reports/records of payment prior to court hearings.
  9. Assists with preparation of quarterly and annual reports. 
  10. Works closely with Accounting Department and staff.
  11. Assures that all work product is of high quality, accurate and produced in a timely manner. 
  12. Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Two (2) year Accounting degree preferred; at least two (2) years accounting experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Must possess excellent verbal, written and computer skills.
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with various Federal, State, County and other Tribal agencies on a daily basis. 
  • Must be knowledgeable of the Minnesota Data Privacy Act and Red Lake Nation Tribal Codes, specifically pertaining to Family Law/Child Support.

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Must possess a valid Minnesota Driver’s license and auto insurance.
  • Must be bondable, trust-worthy and dependable.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation in accordance with applicable law regulation and/or policy.
  • Will be subject to pre-employment drug testing and random drug testing.
  • Will be required to sign a Program Confidentiality Statement and understand penalties for any violations.  
  • Must be willing to travel.
