Position Description:  District Building and Grounds Manager
Terms:   Fulltime – 12 month employee
Position Overview: The purpose of this position is to direct and manage the activities of the custodial, facilities maintenance and plant operations throughout the school district to ensure the provision of a clean, safe and pleasant environment for students, staff and the public.

Major Position Duties:

Daily supervision and direction of the custodial staff at all district sites. Review and evaluate custodial staff work.  Manage the District Health and Safety program.  Serve as District Indoor Air Quality Coordinator.  Provides the Business Manager with preliminary building and ground, facilities and capital budgets, monitoring the budget process, and ensures budget guidelines are followed.  Develop facilities maintenance plan.  Develop and monitor facilities and grounds standard operating procedures.  Establish and organize a facilities committee to provide and develop short and long-term facility plans. Manage and report to the Superintendent facility and capital projects.  Electronic and paper reporting as applicable for local, State and Federal agencies and governments.  Annual inventory update.  Solicits and reviews bids for facilities and capital projects.  Works closely with building administrators in developing budgets and facility plans.

Qualifications/Requirements:

1. B.A./B.S. management degree; or  3-5 years experience as facility manager or in construction occupation; or fully licensed plumber or electrician.
2. Knowledge of HVAC equipment.
3. Knowledge of building codes and regulations
4. Ability to supervise 20-25 employees.
5. Ability to lift up to 70 lbs, remain seated at workstation for long periods of time and perform repetitive movements using various office technologies.
6. Good communication skills, personnel appearance and a cooperative attitude required
7. Willingness to assist where needed and the ability to establish good working relationships is essential.
